ISLAMABAD, Sept 22 (ABC): TMUC School of Law has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration aims to strengthen the link between legal education and professional practice.
The two sides signed the MoU at The Forum, TMUC Islamabad. The partnership seeks to create structured opportunities for aspiring lawyers to engage directly with the legal profession. It will also help them develop practical competencies required for contemporary legal careers.
The collaboration establishes a framework for practitioner-led learning, professional mentoring, moot court and advocacy training, legal clinics and court exposure. In addition, it covers internships, chamber and law firm placements, professional development and legal awareness initiatives.
Practical legal training in focus
The initiative forms part of the broader academic vision of TMUC School of Law. It places experiential learning, professional engagement and career readiness alongside academic rigour.
Through sustained interaction with members of the Bar, students will have opportunities to strengthen their advocacy and legal reasoning. Exposure to professional legal environments will also help them develop professional ethics, communication skills and courtroom understanding.
Stronger links between academia, legal profession
Dr Faisal Mushtaq TI, Chairman and CEO of TMUC Higher Education Group, underscored the importance of taking legal education beyond the traditional classroom. He also stressed the need to create stronger institutional bridges between academia and professional practice.
He highlighted TMUC’s commitment to developing graduates who are academically accomplished, professionally confident and globally aware. Moreover, he said they should be equipped to navigate the evolving demands of the legal sector.
Ambassador Masood Khan, President of the Centre for Law and Security (CLAS), also attended the ceremony. His participation reflected the institution’s emphasis on connecting legal education with wider discussions around law, governance, policy and professional leadership.
Muneeze Muzaffar, Head of Institute, TMUC Islamabad, represented the institutional leadership of the campus. She reaffirmed TMUC’s commitment to providing an academically rigorous and professionally enriching environment for law students.
A significant feature of the partnership is its focus on experiential legal education. Through moot court initiatives, students will interact with experienced legal practitioners serving in coaching, judging and adjudication roles.
Meanwhile, guided court visits will allow students to observe legal proceedings and gain first-hand insight into courtroom practice. Internships and professional placements will also provide exposure to chambers and law firms.
International law students participate
Students from TMUC’s University of London and University of Hertfordshire Law programmes also attended the ceremony. Their participation reflected the School of Law’s international academic environment. It also demonstrated its focus on preparing students for an increasingly interconnected legal profession.
The partnership will serve as a sustained platform for collaboration between the academic and legal communities. In addition, an ongoing programme of professional engagements will complement students’ formal legal studies.
Through the initiative, TMUC School of Law aims to combine international academic pathways with professional exposure and advocacy development. It will also promote industry connectivity and career-focused learning.
