ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (ABC): The 157-kilometre Dasu-Mansehra 765kV transmission line has achieved 46% overall physical progress, with completion now expected by June 30, 2028.
According to the latest project status for Lot-I, a copy of which is available with Wealth Pakistan, financial progress has reached 29.4%, with $97.2 million paid so far.
The package involves the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of an approximately 157-kilometre 765kV hexa-bundle double-circuit transmission line using ACSR Rail conductor.
The transmission line will run from the Dasu Hydropower Project to the 765kV Mansehra substation. It will require around 419 towers along its full length.
Work progresses on towers, access roads
Construction has progressed on several fronts. The project has completed access-road works along 118 kilometres, covering locations for 179 towers.
Workers have completed concreting of foundations for 105 towers, while 60 towers have so far been erected.
Progress has also been recorded in design and procurement. Type tests for D7N, D7M and D7T towers have been completed, while the project status shows grounding material at 100%.
Supplies already delivered to the site include stubs for 272 towers and 102 complete towers. Other deliveries include around 155,000 insulators and 86 kilometres of conductor.
In addition, 20 kilometres of optical ground wire (OPGW) and 150 kilometres of earth wire have reached the site.
Further shipments are expected by October 2026. These include stubs for another 33 towers, 47 complete towers and 19.5 kilometres of conductor, according to the project status.
Completion now expected in June 2028
The contract for Lot-I was signed on December 29, 2022, and became effective on February 10, 2023.
The original contractual completion date was June 9, 2026, based on a 40-month implementation period. However, the latest project status now places the expected completion date at June 30, 2028.
Sinohydro Corporation of China holds the contract for Lot-I. The contract price comprises CNY848.6 million, $23.06 million and Rs30.032 billion.
At bid-evaluation rates, the contract value is equivalent to approximately $330 million.
