Rana Tanveer forms committee to probe irregularities in wheat procurement by PAASCO

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Industries and Production and National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain has taken notice of irregularities and public complaints in wheat procurement by PASSCO.

A three-member committee has been formed under the leadership of BPS 20 officer of Food Ministry Salim Mohsin. The committee will investigate wheat procurement by PASSCO and also look into public complaints about irregularities.

Federal Minister Rana Tanveer emphasized that exploitation of farmers is unacceptable under any circumstances. “To make wheat procurement by PASSCO transparent, relevant directives has been issued. All necessary measures to make wheat procurement transparent are being ensured,” he added.

The minister said farmers and agriculture play a crucial role in the country’s prosperity, highlighting that when farmers are happy, the country will prosper.

In another development, Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain has taken notice of imported wheat containing insects. Rana Tanveer has formed a high-level inquiry committee. The three-member committee will be led by Food Commissioner Syed Wasim-ul-Hassan.

The investigative committee will conduct transparent investigations into the imported wheat containing insects. The committee will present a comprehensive report on the substandard and infested wheat imports. Transparent investigations will be carried out to determine those responsible for the substandard and infested wheat imports.
