ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain says the second phase of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) focusses on cooperation in the industry sector, which will create employment opportunities in Pakistan.

In an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG), the federal minister said Pakistan was benefiting greatly from different projects under CPEC.

He said that not only Pakistan but the entire world can benefit from CPEC.

“Pak-China cooperation in the industrial sector will create employment opportunities which will boost the national economy of Pakistan.

The second phase of CPEC even important that should be taken forward with full energy,” Rana Tanveer said.

The federal minister mentioned that the world was currently facing serious challenges regarding food security.

He said that numerous measures were being taken to ensure food security in China.

He said that Chinese President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to food security.

According to him, China’s food security experiences can be beneficial for the entire world, particularly for Pakistan.

Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistan can take a leaf out of China’s book for agricultural development, especially in modern agricultural technology, to develop its own agriculture sector and also to ensure food security.

The federal minister said the world was current facing a great challenge of food security which needs to be addressed with combined efforts.

He said Pakistan has great potential to tackle the challenge of food security by benefiting from Chinese experiences and successes in this particular field.

He said Pakistan needs to utilize modern technology and research to optimum level to enhance its output in the agriculture sector to cater to its domestic food needs and also earn valuable foreign exchange by exporting surplus agricultural products.

He said awareness will be created among the farmers to use high-quality seed to enhance their agricultural production.

The federal minister said Pakistan got a bumper wheat crop this year but still its per acre production is below the global average production.

He said the Pakistan government is focused to facilitate the farmers and provide them maximum facilities.

Rana Tanveer Hussain praised the economic development model of China.

He said that China’s swift economic development shows that it is soon going to become the top economy of the world.

He said China is making investment in all parts of the world and it has emerged as a major global player in defence, agriculture, industry and other sectors.

He said China’s economy is going to make quick and continuous development beyond any doubt under the prudent and wise leadership of President Xi Jinping.
