RAWALPINDI, July 24 2023: Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Amed said on Monday hit out at the ruling partners, stating that the PPP and PML-N wanted to install a caretaker prime minister who would serve their interests.
Taking to Twitter, the former interior minister said the decisions regarding the formation of the caretaker setup would not be an easy task. Lashing out at the ruling parties, he said they wanted to benefit their relatives.
He said the caretaker PM could not get any powers except for holding elections without a constitutional amendment.
He also shared his two cents on reports that the PML-N has nominated Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for the caretaker PM slot. Such decisions would anger the International Monetary Fund (IMF), devalue local currency and delay elections in the country, he warned about the consequences.
He said it was surprising that doctors in London advised former PM Nawaz Sharif to go to Saudi Arabi and the UAE but barred him from visiting Pakistan. He said the PML-N supremo did not dare to return despite holding diplomatic passport and government of his brother in the country.
The former minister said any attempts to delay the polls would serve more blows to the government. He said increased power tariff amid inflation would bury the politics of the ruling partners, adding that pubic had fed up with them. He said the public had defaulted due to surging inflation.
He also slammed the distribution of new vehicles among the government officers. Mr Ahmed termed the next two weeks crucial for political situation in Pakistan, adding that more difficulties are in store for public.
