LAHORE , June 21, 2023: Election Commissioner Ahmed Shehzad Farooq Rana has assumed charge as acting chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board after the management committee was dissolved.

Mr Rana would perform the duties till the elections for the new chairman of the board are held.

On Tuesday, outgoing PCB chief Najam Sethi chaired the last meeting of the management committee, which approved the composition of the Board of Governors (BoGs).

The new BoG includes, two nominees announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as patron of the PCB, four regional representatives i.e. Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi and four department/service organisation representatives i.e. Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Pakistan Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Khan Research Laboratory (KRL).

The prime minister has nominated former PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf and advocate Supreme Court Mustafa Ramday as members of the BoG.

The nomination came after Mr Sethi pulled himself from the race to become next PCB chairman. He made the announcement in a tweet, stating he did not want to become a “bone of contention” between PM Shehbaz and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
