ISLAMABAD , June 16, 2023: Azam Khan, ex-principal secretary to former prime minister, has gone missing, says family.
In an application filed in the Kohsar police station, the family reveals that Azam Khan did not return after leaving the house on Thursday evening. His mobile number is switched off, says the report.
The application has been submitted by Azam Khan’s nephew and the Kohsar police claim to have launched an investigation into the matter.
Earlier, the PAC put Azam Khan’s name on ECL.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) summoned former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nasir over the matter of the dam fund, while it has been ordered to put the name of former principal secretary Azam Khan in the Exit Control List (ECL).
The meeting of PAC was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Noor Alam Khan, during which PAC member Barjees Tahir said that regarding the advertisements of dam fund, Rs14billion have been spent, while only Rs9billion were collected for the cause of building the dam. While another PAC member, Mushahid Hussain Syed demanded to hold the inquiry over the dam fund.
While issuing the arrest warrants of former principal secretary Azam, the PAC also ordered the FIA and the interior ministry to not let Azam travel abroad through any airport.
Subsequently, PAC Chairman Noor also discussed the matter of the Malam Jabba case, asking NAB Chairman Aftab Sultan (who was presented during the PAC meeting) to tell who closed the Malam Jabba case. In reply, Chairman Aftab Sultan said that the case was closed during the tenure of former NAB chairman Javed Iqbal.

Cabinet okayed legal action against Azam
Earlier, the federal cabinet had issued a formal approval to pursue legal action against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief and his party leaders regarding the ‘cypher’ audio leaks, it was reported.
The Federal Investigation Agency was given a nod of approval by the cabinet to investigate the ‘diplomatic cipher’ audio leaks, wherein the former government high-ups allegedly discussed how would they “play” on the cipher issue.
A cabinet committee was constituted on September 30 to discuss the proceedings regarding the audio leaks featuring the PTI chairman and his party leaders, including the then General Secretary Asad Umar, then principal secretary Azam Khan and vice president Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The National Accountability Bureau also summoned Mr Khan in the graft case of Malam Jabba land scam.
