Johnny Depp donates $1M settlement money to charity

LAHORE , June 15, 2023: Hollywood star Johnny Depp has donated $1 million, he received from former wife Amber Heard as part of the settlement agreement in the defamation case, to charity on Tuesday.

According to source, Depp has chosen five charities to donate the settlement funds, which include the Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Marlon Brando’s Tetiaroa Society charity, and the Amazonia Fund Alliance. The charity organisations include those taking care of sick children and providing shelter to homeless along with other philanthropist tasks.

Virginia jury found both Heard and Depp liable for defamation in June 2022. The former couple later came to a settlement in December with Heard agreeing to pay Depp $1 million in damages.

The Hollywood celebrities married in a private ceremony at their Los Angeles home in 2015. Moreover, On May 23, 2016, Amber filed for divorce from Johnny and obtained a temporary restraining order against him. She said Johnny had physically mistreated her during their relationship, most commonly when high on drugs or alcohol.

More recently, both actors have been photographed spending time in Europe, doing their best to move on from the public trial.
