SWAT , May 16, 2023:A girl died and five other schoolchildren suffered wounds after a police constable opened fire on them at a private school in Sangota area of Swat on Tuesday, police said.
The suspect identified as Alam Khan was taken into custody. The injured children were transported to a Saidu Sharif hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the suspect to determine what prompted him to commit firing on the innocent kids.
A DIG said the tragic incident took place when the children were readying themselves to head back home. The incident created panic in the school and vicinity.
Doctors at the Saidu Sharif hospital said two of the injured were facing life-threatening wounds.
Swat District Police Officer Shafiullah Gandapur expressed shock over the incident and vowed to bring the perpetrator to justice.
