LAHORE, May 12, 2023- Famous TikTok influencer, Hareem Shah, has joined the chorus of voices calling for the restoration of internet services in Pakistan. The government suspended mobile broadband services across the country on May 9th in response to violent protests that erupted after Imran Khan’s arrest.
Hareem Shah, like many others, is feeling the effects of the internet ban and has taken to Twitter to express her frustration. In a reply to Maryam Nawaz’s tweet, the TikTok star requested the restoration of internet services, stating that her “patience is running thin.”
The situation in Pakistan has been tense since the protests erupted, with PTI supporters attacking military and government buildings in several cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar. The demonstrations have also led to the deaths of at least nine people.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has stated that internet services will remain suspended until those responsible for the damage to public property are caught.
He further explained that the protesters were using social media to plan and organize their attacks.
However, many legal users of the internet are also suffering due to the ban. The suspension of internet services has affected businesses, education, and communication in the country.
The situation remains unresolved, with the government continuing to monitor the situation closely. As tensions continue to rise, it remains to be seen when the internet services will be restored and life in Pakistan can return to normal.
