PESHAWAR , April 18, 2023: Landslide in Torkham in Khyber District near Pak-Afghan border in the wee hours of Tuesday buried at least 15 trucks and containers loaded with goods under the debris. At least 8 persons also sustained injuries due to landslide, Dunya News reported.
According to details, fire broke out in some trucks after the landslide which was swiftly extinguished by the rescue teams. At least 3 seriously injured persons were shifted to hospital.
Rescue 1122 teams from Khyber, Peshawar, Nowshehra, Charsadda and Mardan are at the scene and taking part in the relief operation. Deputy Commissioner Khyber is supervising the relief operation.
According to Deputy Commissioner Khyber, team of district administration, police, rescue 1122 and other department are taking part in the rescue operation. He said that heavy machinery from Peshawar and Nowshehra will reach soon to take part in relief operation.
