Web Desk, April 17, 2023: Mountaineer Naila Kiani has successfully scaled Annapurna, the tenth highest peak in the world at 8,091 metres above sea level in Nepal, making her the first Pakistani woman to achieve this milestone.

She reached the summit on Monday morning, also becoming the first Pakistani woman to climb four peaks above 8,000 meters.

Ms Kiani was part of the six-member team that also included young Pakistani climber Shehroze Kashif and an Indian climber named Arjun Vajpai.

She also aims at summitting Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, and Lhotse peak later this year.

Last year, she successfully scaled her third peak over 8,000m, Gasherbrum-1, despite facing extreme weather conditions between the C2 and C3 points. She had summited K2 in July and scaled Gasherbrum-II in 2021.

The Dubai-based banker got married at the base camp of K2 in 2018, before starting her climbing career in 2021.
