Oct 25(ABC): The services of the WhatsApp messaging app have started to resume after a more than an hour disruption, WABetaInfo, a platform that keeps a watch on developments related to the app, confirmed Tuesday.

WhatsApp users across India, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Asia reported issues with sending and receiving texts and videos.

“Some messages may finally be marked as delivered right now for certain people but WhatsApp is still down for millions of users, the WhatsApp watcher tweeted.

The app has become a critical means of communication for households and businesses. When Whatsapp had an hours-long outage last October, it hit trading of assets from cryptocurrencies to oil, before traders switched to alternative platforms such as Telegram.

A spokesperson for WhatsApp parent company Meta platforms told earlier today that they are aware that some users are currently having trouble sending messages and they working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible.

The outage was reported at 12:17 PST after the tracking website Downdetector shared that users were experiencing problems using the service.
