QUETTA, July 5(ABC): Eight people were killed in different accidents during the torrential rain and flood across the province.
The deceased include a child and three women. In all, 24 deaths have been reported in the monsoon rains.
Over mud houses collapsed during the rains, while over 2,000 cattle washed away. Hundreds of people have become homeless due the rains in Kalat, Khuzdar, Bolan, Hub, Ziarat, Chaman and Pishin. In Jacobabad, traffic has come to a standstill due to the flood.
On the other hand, flood in Nullah Lai has touched the dangerous level of 18 feet. In the twin cities, low-lying areas have been inundated. Old Sarafa Bazar near Lal Haveli is giving the pond-like look and goods in shops have been damaged.
In Islamabad Sector H-13, rainwater has entered the houses. Several vehicles were stuck in the flood. Different cities, including Taxila, Murree, Galiyat, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Jhelum and Sangla Hill, also received rain.
In Karachi, roads became canals after the heavy rain in Nazimabad, Golimar, Layari, Sarjani, Nagan Chowrangi, SITE Area, Orangi Town, Sadr and Shahra-e-Faisal and Governor’s House.
The newly-constructed roof of the Sindh Assembly continued to leak during the rain.
