NORINCO interested to invest in wind power and other sectors in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jul.1 (ABC): A delegation of Chinese company NORINCO called on Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on and expressed their interest to invest in Pakistan in renewable energy, optical fibre, iron and copper ore mining and infrastructure in major Pak cities.

According to report, Prime Minister welcomed the Chinese investment in Pakistan and assured of all-out support of the government in this regard, a statement said.

The delegation was led by vice-president NORINCO Int’l Wang Xiaobing and CEO NORINCO Int’l (Pakistan) Li Chen. Federal Ministers Khawaja Saad Rafique, Syed Naveed Qamar, Chauhdary Salik Hussain and senior officials of the relevant ministries were also present on the occasion.

The Prime Minister also appreciated the company for its role in Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project, which, he said, is facilitating hundreds of thousands of commuters in Lahore on a daily basis.

The NORINCO delegation showed keen interest in investing in a wide spectrum of renewable energy projects, especially in the wind corridor in Thatha, Sindh, where a 100 MWs wind power project was proposed. Investment in fibre optic along railway lines, copper and iron ore mining at proven reserves, and infrastructure development in big cities of the country were among the key investment opportunities highlighted by the company as potential venues for investment.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is open to investment and that the government is taking steps to remove all impediments for further facilitation of investors.
