ISLAMABAD: Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Malik, Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, chaired a meeting with the District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and her team to review the progress of the District Health Office (DHO) on March 20, 2025, at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, Islamabad.
Dr. Mukhtar urged the immediate shift from manual to a digitized District Health Information System (DHIS2) to improve data management and efficiency.
Dr. Mukhtar also emphasized the need to resolve issues related to the medical officer, health workforce and accelerate HR hiring processes to address staff shortages.
The Minister called for the development of at least five nursing colleges with five Community Health Centers (CHCs) across ICT. Dr. Mukhtar also stressed the importance of launching mobile health clinics.
Dr. Mukhtar instructed the DHO to collaborate with Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority to involve the private sector to establish 24/7 birth-dose sites.
The state minister highlighted the need for data on missing, zero-dose, and refusal children to be collected robustly and used to strengthen immunization efforts in ICT.
With the dengue season approaching, the state minister stressed that ongoing dengue control efforts must be completed immediately.
Dr. Mukhtar Bharath concluded the meeting with a call for the urgent implementation of these priorities to improve healthcare services across Islamabad.
