RAWALPINDI, July 18, 2023: Awami Muslim League chief and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid has said that the next three weeks will be crucial and decisive for the politics of Pakistan in which the PDM parties will clash with each other and the alliance will dismember.

In his message on social networking site Twitter, the former interior minister said decisions of the Supreme Court, installation of caretaker setup, date for elections and population census all would be important. All these decisions would be taken before August 12 which would be very vital for solving the political and economic problems of Pakistan.

Mr Rashid said it did not matter if elections were held in 60 or 90 days, the problem was whether the polls would to be transparent, meet the expectations of the people and acceptable to the world.

He said it would also be an important decision that caretaker prime minister would be a politician or an economist.

The senior politician said without political stability there would be no economic and financial stability. The AML head said ruling alliance (PDM) was an unnatural alliance of 13 parties with conflicting interests, which would dismember before elections.

He said when they would contest elections on their respective election symbols what narrative they would be making against each other.

The head of Awami Muslim League said who would be responsible for flour selling at Rs170 per kg, sugar at Rs155 per kg, dollar at Rs290 and electricity tariff at Rs50 in peak hours. He said, “How they (rulers) will be facing public who are jubilant over one billion dollar loan begged from IMF?”

Mr Rashid further said that inflation, unemployment, increase in electricity tariff and gas prices, depreciation in value of rupee and IMF’s harshest conditions would prove to be a graveyard for the poor and political death for the PDM. IMF’s conditions were hazardous for the poor and a charge sheet against government, he said.
