Web Desk, July 14, 2023: New drama Mayi Ri’s trailer, which director Meesam Naqvi just shared on Instagram, appears to be unlike any other.
The trailer shows a young girl who at first seems to be merely exploring and experiencing her youth and wisdom, but around halfway through, things take a gloomy turn. The idea screenplay and characterization are by Sana Fahad, and the film stars 14-year-old Aina Asif.
When she investigates after hearing a baby’s screams, she finds a gloomy chamber that is very unlike from the spacious library that was just bursting with information and experiences. The main focus is on a young man (Samar Jaffri) who is carrying a sobbing infant. We believe that to be her sobbing child.
The shift in mood and the focus on the father and kid contrast with the picture earlier in which the library was packed with lamps, opportunities, and light, probably symbolising the girl’s life’s diminishing alternatives and choices. The title screen then fades to reveal the youngster dressed as a bride, indicating that this is a show that would focus on child marriage, a significant societal issue in Pakistan.
Aina Asif, a young actress, and Samar Jaffri, a brand-new name in the business, are the two actors that feature in the teaser. His first role will be in this. Nauman Ejaz, Haniya Ahmed, Maria Wasti, Rimha Ahmed, Saad Zameer Faridi, Sajida Syed, Paras Masroor, Amna Malik, Diya Mughal, Usman Mazhar, Faham Usman, Sameena Nazir, and Bisma Babar are among the other actors that round up the cast. With the drama, Maya Khan and Hiba Ali Khan both make their much awaited returns.
In Pakistan, the entertainment sector has a big say in how social problems like child marriage are handled. It might highlight these issues through its broadcasts and films and elicit crucial discussions. It may inform and expose this troublesome part of our culture by depicting storylines that highlight the negative effects of early marriages.
Additionally, we anticipate that prominent female roles will include strong females who will encourage young girls and highlight the value of empowerment and education. The entertainment sector has the ability to raise awareness of important issues like child marriage and encourage a community-wide effort to address them thanks to its extensive reach and all-pervasive influence.
