ISLAMABAD, May 25, 2023: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday summoned the inspector-general of police for a contempt of court proceeding for arresting PTI leader Shireen Mazari despite its restraint order.
Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the contempt of court plea as IG Akbar Nasir failed to turn up.
The judge remarked that this was a case of contempt of court and expressed surprise that the IG is absent. He should have been here, he added.
The Additional Attorney General informed the court that the IG was in the court of chief justice and would reach there shortly.
The court summoned the IG in personal capacity on May 31 and directed him to submit a written reply till the next hearing.
