ISLAMABAD, May 5, 2023: Islamabad Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar on Friday ordered PTI chairman Imran Khan to appear before his court on May 10 for indictment in the Toshakhana case.

The former prime minister is accused of receiving gifts from the Toshakhana illegally. The court rejected Mr Khan’s requests to dismiss the case and ordered him to ensure his presence in court.

During the hearing, Mr Khan’s lawyer argued on two pleas stating that the Election Commission of Pakistan’s petition was “non-maintainable” and that the sessions court did not have the jurisdiction to hear the matter.

However, the judge rejected both the requests and summoned Mr Khan in person to appear for the indictment on May 10. Although Mr Khan had previously made an appearance in the capital judicial complex, he was allowed to mark his attendance in his car due to the chaos that ensued with the presence of PTI workers.

The gifts included watches given by royals, which Mr Khan allegedly sold in Dubai. The ECP had in a way disqualified Mr Khan. The commission had also sought criminal proceedings against the PTI chief.
