ISLAMABAD, May 4, 2023: PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday countered Minister for External Affairs Bilawal Bhutto’s India tour saying he did not think that the Kashmir issue had held any importance to him.

His statement comes as FM Bilawal Bhutto is on a two-day trip to India to attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooepration Organisation (SCO).

Speaking informally to journalists at his appearance before the Islamabad High Court (IHC), he said he foresaw the number of cases against him jumping to 200 very soon. “I could not reach 170 runs in cricket thought,” he mocked.

The former PM went on to say that he had apprised the Lahore High Court of the person who wanted to take his life. “News media will not publish his name because he is running the caretaker government,” he added.

“I was surprised when former army chief Gen (retd) Bajwa said on multiple times there had been no fuel to run the tanks,” he claimed.

Responding to a question, he asked if the reference against SC judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa had not created division within the judiciary. “Who would have backed the filing of reference against Justice Isa,” he asked.

Mr Khan continued by saying that while in government, he was told former PM Nawaz Sharif had been ousted for [not showing] money trails adding that he had also been held accountable for his flat in London. “We realised afterward what had been going on,” he added.

He said the establishment did not agree with the PTI’s policy on holding negotiations with the Taliban-led Afgha administration adding that the PTI’s government was toppled amid negotiations with the Afghan administration. “The PTI timely informed that Talibans were returning to power,” he added.

Earlier, the IHC had granted Mr Khan relief in nine cases with a bail in seven cases and extension in bail in two other cases.
