Web Desk, April 19, 2023: Two Pakistanis are among the five climbers who were safely evacuated from the tenth highest peak of world in Nepal after they were stranded during descent after successful summit.
Pakistani mountaineers Naila Kiani and Shehroze Kashif, and India’s Baljeet Kaur and Arjun Vajpai scaled Annapurna on Monday with the Seven Summit Treks team. An officer of the Nepal Army was also rescued from the peak.
The climbers were airlifted from the Camp 4 and safely shifted to Annapurna Base Camp, confirmed Karrar Haidry, secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan. He said they were stranded on Annapurna at 7000 meters.
Meanwhile, a well-known Irish climber, Noel Hanna, died during the descent. His body had been shifted to Kathmandu from Camp 4.
Naila is the first woman from Pakistan to scale Annapurna peak, while Shehroze Kashif has become youngest climber to summit 11 out of the world’s 14 peaks above 8,000. He aims at summitting all 14 peaks over 8,000 metres.
